Nicholas Short, 23, a former assistant track coach at Issaquah High School, in Issaquah, Washington has been arrested and charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Reportedly Short is a 2003 graduate of Issaquah High School and was employed there as an assistant track coach earlier this year.

It is alleged that on the night of April 21 Short had sex with a 17-year-old female student in a car at Tibbet’s Valley Park. This after earlier in the day having spent the track meet watching the girl and sitting with the girl and her parents instead of coaching the track team.

Reportedly the girls parents called the school two days after the track meet voicing concerns regarding their daughter’s relationship with the coach.

Allegedly Short admitted having sex with the girl when interviewed by police although he has entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

Robert Kevin Cyphers, 45, a former teacher, coach and sports referee in the Houston and Tyler, Texas school systems has been convicted of three counts of aggravated sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.

Cyphers was charged with molesting the 8-year-old girl three different ways on October 2, 2006 while the victim’s mother was at work. Cyphers came to the attention of authorities when officials at Whitehouse Elementary School discovered a note the victim had written which said she had been sexually abused.

The girl said she didn’t know how old she was when the sexual abuse started but it was before and during the third grade, and he would do it after school while her mother was at work. She said the last time he did it was the day before she talked to her school counselor on Oct. 2.

At the time of the offenses for which Cyphers was convicted he was not actively working as a teacher or coach and was according to media reports a stay-at-home dad and working on getting his Master’s Degree.

During the trial it was revealed that the victim’s older sister said during an interview with Child Protective Services that Cyphers had rubbed her back, legs and inner thighs before but had never touched her private parts.

A registered nurse testified that she examined the victim and said she had sustained trauma consistent with sexual abuse.

Former Teacher On Trial For Aggravated Sexual Assault Of A Child

Shawn M. Feeney, 32, a former English teacher at East Brunswick High School in East Brunswick, New Jersey has been sentenced to four years in prison for molesting two teenage girls who were students at the school.

Feeney pleaded guilty in April to second-degree official misconduct and two fourth-degree charges of criminal sexual contact with the female students who were 16 and 17-years-old at the time.

The two incidents took place between December 2002 and June 2004 and occurred in Feeney’s New Brunswick apartment. Feeney was originally charged with having sexual intercourse with one of the girls and attempting to have sexual intercourse with the other.

Feeney came to the attention of authorities when one of the two girls approached school officials last year.

Feeney received credit for the 211 days he has spent in jail since his arrest and has no minimum sentence, meaning he is eligible for parole at any time.
