Michael Castleman, 42, and a former teacher at Bucks County Technical High School, in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 10 years probation Tuesday for soliciting oral sex from a 15-year-old Philadelphia boy he met on the Internet.

Castleman who lives with his mother came to the attention of authorities in 2005 when the boy’s mother found out about her son’s communication with Castleman and contacted police.

Castleman is required to register as a sex offender and obtain sex offender counseling but owing to his status as not a sexually violent predator he will not be required to inform the state when he moves, nor will the state notify neighbors of his presence in their neighborhood. Castleman must also have no unsupervised contact with minors and is barred from Internet chat rooms.

Johnny Lee McElroy, 55, a former teacher at Van Buren County High School in Spencer, Tennessee has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a student following his guilty plea to multiple charges of statutory rape and sexual battery by an authority figure.

McElroy who prosecutors said knew his victim since she was in sixth grade allegedly groomed her for sex and victimized the student when she was a 14-year-old sophomore, between August, 2005 and February, 2006 during which many of the sexual encounters occurred on school property with most of them in McElroy’s classroom.

McElroy must serve 30 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Larry Kennedy, 61, a retired math teacher who prior to retirement in 2005 taught at Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas has pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a fifteen-year-old boy.

The sexual assault occurred in May of this year at a Fort Smith, AR fitness center where Kennedy groped the boy, who reported the incident to an employee of the center who called police.

Kennedy was originally charged with second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony however the charged was reduced to fourth-degree sexual assault, a Class A misdemeanor on a motion by the prosecution.

Kennedy’s sentence includes being placed on an electronic monitoring system for four months, registering as a sex offender and completing a sex-offender counseling program. Additionally Kennedy also received a one-year suspended jail sentence.
