Natalie Preston, 23, a former teacher at Bassett High School and an assistant band director at Magna Vista High School charged with attempting to take indecent liberties with a minor has entered a guilty plea in Henry County, Virginia to a lesser charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Preston received a 12-month suspended sentence, was fined $250 and prohibited from contacting the student until the student is 18-years-old.

Preston was placed on unpaid leave and resigned in October of last year after it was alleged that during September she had an inappropriate relationship with a student who was 16 and attending Magna Vista High School at the time.

Former Teacher Gets Suspended Sentence

William Charles Marshall, 54, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland and a substitute teacher at Plum Point Middle School, in Huntingtown, Maryland, has been indicted for allegedly touching a 13-year-old student inappropriately on May 3rd of this year.

Marshall is charged with four counts of third-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor and second-degree assault.

Allegedly Marshall massaged the girl’s shoulders, put his hand on her lower back and touched her buttocks. Other students in the classroom at the time have given statements to police supporting the girl’s accusations.

When the regular teacher returned the next day the girl reported the touching and was taken to a counselor, after which police were contacted and an investigation undertaken.

Student says substitute fondled her

Edison Muñoz, 51, a North Miami Beach Senior High math teacher is scheduled to turn himself in on Monday to be charged with showing obscene materials to a minor.

It is alleged that he showed a cellphone photo of his penis to a 17-year-old female student in class.

The girl told told police that when she was in class on May 17th Muñoz pulled out his cellphone that featured a photo of his son and she asked to see the picture.

Allegedly Muñoz said that he had more pictures to show her and gave her the cellular phone back and when she looked at the picture on the cell phone, it was a picture of an exposed penis.

It is also alleged that Muñoz told her it was his penis and insisted she look at other pictures.

Update 07/02/07:

Edison Muñoz turned himself in today and is charged with violating the protection of minors law which prohibits certain acts in connection with obscenity and battery.
