Eric L. Hyde, 33, of Deerfield Township, Michigan, a teacher and the varsity football coach at North Branch High School charged in March with possession of child sexually abusive material has had his preliminary hearing adjourned.

Hyde’s defense attorney requested the adjournment and no new date has been set for another hearing.

According to the school district Hyde remains on paid leave pending resolution of the case.

Scott Beyer, a former English teacher at Lapeer’s Community High School, in Lapeer, Michigan pleaded guilty recently to similar charges arising from a federal investigation into a Fort Worth, Texas child pornography site and its credit card customers.

Update 9/19/07:

A preliminary hearing for Eric Hyde has been scheduled for October 4th.

Hyde remains on paid leave pending conclusion of his case.

Adam Glen Albrecht, 29, of Broadmoor, California and a music teacher at San Bruno’s Capuchino High School has been arrested on numerous charges alleging the sexual abuse of one of his students.

Albrecht was arrested on 35 felony charges of oral sex and unlawful sexual intercourse and four misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The offenses are alleged to have taken place between December, 2006 and June, 2007 and the alleged victim is a 17-year-old female student.

The relationship came to the attention of authorities by way of a tip to San Bruno police who contacted Broadmoor Police. The offenses are alleged to have taken place at Albrecht’s residence, inside a vehicle and at two other residences

Albrecht is being held in the San Mateo County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Update 07/02/07:

This afternoon Adam Glen Albrecht appeared in Mateo County Superior Court and entered not guilty pleas to 16 felony counts of oral copulation with a minor, 16 felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and to single counts of of witness dissuasion, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Authorities indicate that several instances between Albrecht and the teen involved alcohol and one also involved marijuana.

Albrecht remains held on $500,000 bail in San Mateo County Jail. A bond reduction hearing is set for Thursday, July 5th and a preliminary hearing is set for July 16th.

Update 07/06/07:

On July 5th, Judge Carl Holm reduced Albrecht’s bond amount from $500,000 to $100,000. The defense had asked that bail be reduced to $35,000 and the prosecution asked that it be unchanged.

In reference to the alleged affair between Albrecht and the 17-year-old student, Judge Holm said, “Love is blind. Love is stupid sometimes”.

Albrecht if convicted of all charges would face a maximum sentence of 38 years in prison. Prosecutors say the typical sentence would range from probation to six years.

Todd Hoiness, 40, a teacher and football coach at Hoquiam High School, in Hoquiam, Washington charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a student athlete last week was jailed after allegedly violating conditions of his pretrial release.

Hoiness is alleged to have engaged in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student last fall after she had a problem with an ex-boyfriend. The relationship came to the attention of authorities when the girl’s family found “love letters” alleged between Hoiness and the girl and went to police.

At his initial court appearance last week Hoiness was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and her family and not to have any unsupervised contact with juveniles, other than his own two children.

Hoiness was jailed when it was discovered that he and the girl were allegedly exchanging text messages over the weekend.
